Two of Mr. Garrett's 2006-07 rhetoric and composition students (picture below) won gold at the regional Scholastic Writing Awards contest, the oldest and most prestigious writing contest in the nation.
Brigid Estridge, daughter of Howard and Mary Estridge of Tomball, and Curtis Landrum, son of Delhi and Linda Landrum of Spring, both were a little shocked to learn of their award. After the shock diminished, however, they were elated.
Because their essays received Gold Key awards regionally, they were sent to New York City for adjudication in the national competition.

David Gensheimer wins The Longest Sentence in the World Contest
David Gensheimer, son of Mark and Renee Gensheimer of Hockley, poses with (left) and celebrates (above) his winning this year's World's Longest Sentence Contest. In keeping with the spirit of the award, Mr. Garrett felt it only fitting that he present David with the world's longest award certificate as well.
